Remove the web and all its content from the world of today and our continent may be in commotion. That is how well pure reliance on virtual space has become. Information and the speed at which it comes is the currency of the moment and nations that matter have a top on happenings in cyber space,using it for predictions and, where possible to increase the country's cross domestic product. Online transaction fast becoming the trend.
Social media being an important aspect in the web, starts out as something you check occasionally, but before long, it takes over your life. You stop reading books or sitting with yourself quietly. Instead, you check facebook. Then check it again, and again.
But there's hope. And you don't have to quit social media; the trick is finding balance. This balance include;
Quarantine your smart phone, first and foremost, remove your smartphones from the bedroom. Stop using it as an alarm clock, reading device or music played next to your bed. The temptation to wake up and check your email, or respond to someone on Facebook or blackberry messenger is too great. And once you have fallen into the trap, it is game over.
Resistance is not futile; take away the itch to check your accounts. Oscar Wilde once said , "I can resist everything except temptation." You can block sites on your computers and mobile phones. If that sound relevant to your online habits, you need to download some free software that will make it simple to block website.
Start a new routine; If you are like me, you didn't join facebook and instagram and start using it 24 hours a day.
To get back to a more appropriate amount of time, set up a new routine that doesn't involve your phone or laptop or tablet.
Read a book for 30 minutes in the morning before logging on, or spend the last hour without technology (or do both).
Finally, whatever you do, don't go and announce your plans to slow your use of social media on social media ( the temptation to see what followers are saying may be to great).
